Volunteer FAQs

How can I get involved as a volunteer with Louie’s Legacy?

Just complete our application! There are numerous ways to contribute! You can help screen adoption applications, assist with transportation, help with administrative tasks, participate in adoption events, or even offer specialized skills such as photography or graphic design. Once you complete the application, someone from our volunteer team will be in touch in a few days.

Do I need prior experience to volunteer?

While some volunteer positions with us do require some prior experience, no prior experience is necessary for the bulk of our volunteer opportunities!! Our team provides training and guidance for all volunteers. Whether you’re a seasoned animal lover or new to the rescue scene, there’s a place for you here.

Can I still volunteer, even if I can’t foster?

Absolutely. We have a myriad of volunteers who work behind the scenes to support our rescue animals without necessarily opening their homes as a foster parent. Several of our volunteers are people who can’t foster, but still want to make a difference.

How much time commitment is required to volunteer?

The time commitment varies depending on your availability and the volunteer role you choose. Some tasks require a more significant time investment, while others may be more flexible. Generally we require a minimum three month commitment to volunteering, but if you apply, we can make recommendations based on your schedule and interests.

What kinds of positions are available?

We offer both remote and in-person volunteer opportunities! In-person opportunities include those such as adoption events, animal intake, transport, and more. Remote opportunities include screening adoption applications, editing pet bios, data and administrative work, etc. Use the search engine below to sort by region, time commitment, and whether or not a position is remote or in person to see what we have available and whether or not it’s right for you!

I have a specific skill or profession. How can I leverage that to help the rescue?

We welcome volunteers with diverse skill sets! Whether you’re a photographer, graphic designer, writer, or veterinarian, there’s likely a way for you to contribute. Let us know about your expertise, and we’ll find a way to utilize it for the benefit of the animals.

Transport- Long Trips

Our transport drivers drive longer distances using a van provided by Louie’s Legacy to ensure animals can come into rescue.
