Volunteer FAQS

Thanks for your interest in volunteering! Here are some common questions about volunteering with Louie’s Legacy. If you have a question that isn’t answered here, please contact us!

About Us:

Louie’s Legacy Animal Rescue is one of the nation’s largest foster based animal rescue organizations, with major bases of operation in both Ohio and New York City, serving a large section of the midwest and northeast.

As a professional 501c3 rescue organization we collaborate with volunteers, fosters, animal welfare partners, and shelters to rescue animals in need and place them in our temporary foster care. We place a high priority on the quality of care, including both medical and behavioral support, for all of our animals. We also value and honor the contributions of the hundreds of wonderful people like you who support Louie’s Legacy in our lifesaving work.

Adoption Events – We do a large number of adoption events across 3 states every weekend, as well as participate in major mega adoption events several times a year. You would be the public face of the organization and a key part in the adoption process.

Transport – We frequently have need of short and longer haul transport drivers to help us rescue animals. This could include out of state trips or just bringing animals to a local event.

Photography – Professional or talented amateur photographers make a huge difference in saving the lives of animals. There are opportunities to help at events or to capture animals in their loving foster homes to help them get adopted more quickly.

Behavior and Medical Team – Trainer, behaviorist vet tech, nursing, or related fields? Help us maintain our high standards for both medical and behavioral support.

Application Screening Teams – As part of being one of the largest foster based rescues in the country, we receive several thousand foster and adoption applications per year. Our screeners review each application and help make the best matches.

Social Media Team – Strategist, copywriter, or community manager? Help us save more lives by growing our social presence and leveraging each platform to engage our fosters, volunteers, donors, and potential adopters.

Marketing & Development Team – Have any experience in graphic design, copywriting, fundraising, event planning, web design or support, brand development, PR, advertising, marketing, or other transferable skills? You can make an incredible lifesaving impact by joining this team!

Accounting / Finance Team – Good with cloud based accounting systems? Help our administrative team carefully and responsibly manage our funding to help save more lives, more quickly.
