Louie’s Legacy Animal Rescue Receives PEDIGREE Foundation Grant
October 31, 2025 — Cincinnati, OH— Each year, millions of dogs across the United States face homelessness due to overcrowded shelters, limited resources, and lack of access to foster care. To help address this ongoing crisis, Louie’s Legacy Animal Rescue is proud to announce it has received a $15,000 grant from the PEDIGREE Foundation to support its work rescuing, transporting, and placing dogs from overcrowded shelters into safe, loving foster homes.
This funding will directly support Louie’s Legacy’s lifesaving transport and rescue efforts, allowing the organization to move at-risk dogs out of high-intake shelters and into its foster-based program, where they receive medical care, behavioral support, and preparation for adoption. With shelters across the country continuing to operate at or above capacity, these resources are critical to ensuring more dogs get a second chance at life.
With this $15,000 grant, Louie’s Legacy will be able to transport dozens of vulnerable dogs from overcrowded and under-resourced shelters and place them into foster homes while they await adoption. The funding will help reduce euthanasia risk in partner shelters and increase the number of dogs who ultimately find permanent, loving homes.

Grant funds will be utilized throughout the coming year to support ongoing rescue transports and foster placements across Louie’s Legacy’s service regions in the Midwest and Northeast. By expanding its ability to move dogs safely and quickly into foster care, the organization aims to increase both rescue intake and adoption outcomes while relieving pressure on overcrowded shelter systems.
